Every two years, the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), hosts the World Conference on Sport and the Environment (WCSE).

As leader of the Olympic Movement, the IOC feels a strong social responsibility to actively promote a healthy environment and to set good standards. The environment is an important part of the work of the Olympic Movement and it is recognized that there are many opportunities for sport and the Olympic Games to provide sustainable environmental legacies.

The 9th biennial World Conference on Sport and the Environment in Doha, Qatar will play host to prominent figures from the worlds of sport, environment, corporate sustainability and the Olympic Movement. Key representatives will gather to share, learn and collaborate about how playing for a greener future will contribute to sustainable development and have a positive impact on the environment.

The 3-day conference will see the participation of the IOC, United Nations Environment Program, the International Paralympic Committee, International Sport Federations, National Olympic & Paralympic Committees including the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Qatar’s Ministry of Environment.
