Green Building Solutions is a major sustainable development event and very different from similar events in the region for the following reasons:

  • BARWA and Qatari Diar Research Institute has developed Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS), the first green building assessment system in the Middle East and one of the major motivations in the State of Qatar to adopt green building principles. .  www.qsas.org , www.bqdri.org
  • Qatari Diar and BARWA Real Estate Company, Qatar’s largest real estate companies, have adopted QSAS and are encouraging other developers to implement QSAS through various project incentives. Lusail City, the 35,000,000 sqm multi-use city development in Qatar, has announced that all of its buildings must acquire QSAS certification (minimum 2 stars) and offers incentives for projects accomplishing higher marks. • Major government institutions including Ashghal and Kahramaa will announce their intention to adopt QSAS in all their projects in the near future. .   (http://bqdri.org/news//kharamaa) , (http://bqdri.org/news//ashghal)

Such initiatives will create more demands on products and solutions to abide by green building principles. In an initiative to further strengthen the drive towards sustainable development, Green Building Solutions Conference & Exhibition 2011 offers a platform for technology providers, product manufacturers, construction, infrastructure, engineering, and research institutions to demonstrate their solutions and products, share best practices and initiate collaboration in areas supported by QSAS.
